Common Questions

  • It can feel difficult and overwhelming to find the right therapist for you or your child. Scheduling an initial consultation call with me can be a helpful way to get to know each other a bit better and see if the type of therapy that I offer is what you’re looking for. If we do get started and it isn't feeling like the right fit, I can help you find another provider who is better suited for you.

  • The first step in getting started is to schedule a free consultation call with me, to determine if we might be a good fit for each other. You’ll tell me about your reasons for seeking therapy right now and what you’re looking for.

Next, you’ll complete some online paperwork before our first meeting that will provide us with a helpful starting point for our first session. This first session, or “intake” session, will be different from therapy sessions moving forward. I will be asking you a lot of questions at the intake session, whereas our typical sessions will feel more conversational. If you’re reaching out for therapy for your child or teenager, I always recommend a parent-only intake session first, followed by the first session with your child.

Our first few sessions are spent getting to know you and your hopes for what you’ll gain from therapy. If for whatever reason we decide that we aren’t a good fit for each other, I’ll help you find a clinician who can better meet your or your child’s needs.

  • I'm available for sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting in the early afternoon through evenings (my latest session time is 6:30 pm). Starting in January 2025, I will also have availability to see clients on Mondays.

  • I typically recommend that clients start with weekly sessions, so that we can get to know each other and assess your treatment needs and goals more efficiently. As clients start making progress, we can fade out to meeting biweekly. With that being said, I’m flexible, value client autonomy, and understand that finances can be prohibitive, so we can discuss if you have different thoughts about how often we meet.

How long we meet depends on your needs and mental health goals. Some clients are in therapy for as little as a few months, while other clients may choose to continue with therapy for years.

For children and teenagers, I recommend working towards termination, so that kids and teens can get back to spending their time how they should: at school, with their families and friends, and engaging in preferred activities.

I value ongoing discussions about your treatment and therapy goals, and often bring this up with clients.

  • My session fee is $195 per 45-50 minute session. I also offer a sliding scale for clients who cannot afford my regular session fees. Please bring this up with me and we can discuss further!

  • At this time, I do not accept insurance, but can provide you with something called a superbill, which you can use to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

If you are planning to seek reimbursement from your insurance, I highly encourage you to reach out directly to your insurance company prior to starting therapy. Here are some questions to ask:

Do I have out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy? (The CPT code for an individual psychotherapy session is 90834).

Do I have an out-of-network deductible and how much of the deductible have I met so far?

Is there a limit to the number of sessions that are covered?
